The story of Cabins at St. Moritz began with a loss, and unexpectedly, a new beginning.
When Karen and Wayne first started dating, Wayne owned a rental cabin in the Pigeon Forge area. In November 2016, the devastating Chimney Tops 2 wildfire swept through the Smoky Mountains, and his cabin was among the many properties lost.
Rather than rebuild in the same location, Wayne began looking for a new place in the mountains. His search eventually brought Karen and Wayne to Gatlinburg's Chalet Village, where they came across two little neighboring cabins that looked almost exactly alike. Wayne purchased one, which became Heaven's Gate 2, and Karen purchased the other, Heaven's Gate 1.
Renovated with love and ready for a fresh start.
The cabins needed plenty of love. They still had carpet throughout and were ready for a fresh start, so Karen and Wayne renovated them and transformed them into the cozy mountain retreats they are today.
Not long afterward, the family grew again with the addition of Log Heaven and Worth the Climb and Enlightened Stay, each lovingly updated and given its own personality.

Still managed within the family.
For the first few years, a close family friend helped manage and host the cabins. In 2020, Karen's daughter, Tatiana, became more involved, helping launch a direct-booking website and taking a more hands-on role in caring for guests.
Today, the cabins continue to be managed within the family, with Wayne's daughter, Julia, and son-in-law, Dylan, also helping carry the business forward.
Over the years, this has become so much more than a collection of vacation rentals. We are incredibly proud of what our family has built, and of the people who have helped us care for it along the way, including our wonderful longtime cleaner, who has been part of our story for nearly a decade.
A little corner of the Smokies.
We were also incredibly fortunate to find our little corner of the Smokies. Our cabins sit in Chalet Village, alongside Great Smoky Mountains National Park, where mountain views, wooded surroundings, hiking trails, and frequent visits from the area's black bears are simply part of life here.
Every cabin has something a little different to offer, from beautiful views and private hot tubs to game rooms and peaceful forest surroundings.

Because dogs are part of the family.
Our cabins are also pet-friendly for a very simple reason: we love our dogs, and they are part of the family. We visit and vacation at the cabins ourselves, and being able to bring our four-legged family members along makes those trips even more special.
We wanted our guests to have that same opportunity, to enjoy a mountain getaway without having to leave an important member of the family behind.
Clean, comfortable, welcoming, and constantly improving.
Through every renovation, every lesson learned, and every guest welcomed through our doors, one thing has remained the same: we want people to feel cared for when they stay with us.
We believe in treating our guests with kindness, fairness, and respect, and we take pride in offering cabins that are clean, comfortable, welcoming, and constantly being improved.
What began with two little neighboring cabins has grown into a family business we are deeply proud of, and a place we hope our guests, both two-legged and four-legged, will enjoy for many years to come.
